Boys Camp Out

Gerard at some point, a long time ago thought it would be neat to get some males together and go on a campout. He probably never told Timothy this, he most likely overheard Gerard talk about it...but he would never forget something like that. Somehow the summer just disappeared and even though Timothy would remind Gerard VERY regularly, it just never happened. Till this past weekend.

You need to have a fire when camping, and at some point Gerard said they had three going at one time. Sitting around drinking their hot chocolate. They had smores for a snack at night and again with the bacon and eggs for breakfast. The girls were pretty good with Timothy going out for the night till they heard that they were going to have smores. Then it was all "no fair". Not to say that this overnight little adventure didn't go off without a hitch. Gerard couldn't find the road he was looking for way up in the mountain but he said that was a total "God send" as the truck ended up breaking something or other and if he had found the road he was looking for he wouldn't have heard that the truck was running different, and it would have burned up. So as soon as he noticed that one piece was red hot (I should have listened better to the names of the engine parts) he turned around to come back down...and ended up parking what he thought was the side of the road for the night, ended up being a campsite. (how neat is that). Then the camp stove broke as he was trying to cook the hot chocolate so it was all fires for cooking after that. He calls it "real boy camping".
Boys and playing with fire. I said it would be neat if he could take the rest of us females up there for a night, as all of them looked so happy the next day telling me all the stories, but Gerard didn't seem too keen, and I think the exact quote was "this was real boys camping we didn't have to brush our teeth or anything" yuck. And I hate fires with a little two-year-old running around never mind three of them going at once. In the morning they walked along the river finding "treasures" all fishing things left behind and watched some fishermen bring is fish. Something males can never get tired of doing.
