We went out again to celebrate our ten-year anniversary! (this celebration does not stop, how fun is that!!!) At the bazaar for the kid's school this spring Gerard bought a gift certificate for the Copper Room at the Harrison Hot Spring Hotel. I was only expecting to do this to celebrate so the whole other little getaway came as a surprise. This is where we went for our honeymoon and in the package then, it included a dinner at the Copper Room, hence why Gerard wanted to go back there. I still have such vivid memories of getting there in my beautiful, filthy, dirty wedding dress and being so happy, even though the day was not what I had planned... so many guests couldn't make it to the wedding due to the snow and ice rain. My car almost went in the ditch on the way back from the hairdresser, the men's car going in the ditch...everything was so slippery. It was quite the day, and in the end, we got married and that was the whole point of the day and all that really mattered.
It made me realize the passage of time and how the years go so quickly (although the days can sometimes be so long) it seemed that we were just sitting at one of the little tables wondering where God was going to lead our life and now ten years later with baby #5 kicking and moving like crazy the whole night we wonder were God is going to lead us in the next ten years.
The flowers he brought me, even though we were celebrating early. My sister Theresa babysat for us, so the kids were well taken care of and nice and warm. She was asleep on the couch in her winter coat with her scarf on when we came home. I had turned up the heat when we left as she likes the house a bit warmer than we do but she had turned it up some more, to a toasty 25 degrees. Then when I went to check on the kids they all had their oil heaters turned up ALL the way PLUS she had taken all extra blankets out of the closets for them. Their rooms were cooking hot as I could tell by their red cheeks and Sharleen was sleeping with no blankets on. You would have thought they were sleeping on the open tundra in the
Arctic. But thank you so much for babysitting for us.
I think I am
squeezing him a bit too hard and
squishing his chin, all that love.
Listening to the Jones boy play...the same band that was there ten years ago, we had a good time just watching other people dance. Thank you to my hubby for another
wonderful evening (I have been spoiled lately) and thank you for the (almost) ten wonderful years that we have been married together, and it is my prayer that we will have many more together.
