Christmas Decorating

I had said many times that there was going to be no Christmas decorations this year, (gasp I know, what a scourge!) but if it does not enhance the real meaning of Christmas...why do it for ME it would be just more work and not make Christmas any more meaning full. I just had visions of coming home from the hospital in early January and being overwhelmed at having to put all the stuff away, and dragging boxes down to the crawl space is not the ideal thing to do after surgery. But then there is the rest of my family, the children asked me many times (politely and not whining) if they could just put up the tree and the lights and they would get it all from the crawl space and they would put it away (I think they said the last line b/c putting things away is not a something that anyone around here does automatically) ...so I gave in, and we had set it all up together on Friday evening.
It was great for me, I did not have to hang one decoration and did not care one little bit what the tree looked like. The kids had a fun time and only one decoration broke (too bad) I am hoping to eliminate the breakable ones as last year I bought 100 nonbreakable as I think 8 broke while setting up the tree last year. And then I cared, so it was a frustrating experience to watch my few Christmas decorations getting continually smashed to pieces. Amazing now that I have more than we need (anybody need some gold balls??) it doesn't matter when some break. Are tree is not going to win any tree decorating contest that's for sure, but it is a good sturdy tree and for that, I am thankful as it is OVERLOADED with gold balls and other decorations. All we need is a star for the top, which the kids keep pointing out...anybody got an extra one?
She is getting so big, (time for another one) I don't think she even remembered Christmas from last year.

  1. I saw a few for sale at Value Village a couple of weeks ago...you could try there for a star! Looks like the kids had fun setting it up!
